The Client
The University of Oregon School of Law is the only public law school in Oregon. The Law School enrolls around 500 students.
The Challenge
The Frohnmayer Leadership Program is a co-curricular, non-academic leadership certificate for JD students. The program develops leadership skills such as emotional intelligence, applied empathy, teamwork and collaboration, and critical consciousness, by way of workshops, readings, and discussions. The purpose of the Fall Retreat is to take a deep dive into leadership practices central to leaning into uncomfortable topics such as considering multiple perspectives and listening openly for understanding.
“The in-person Canamac workshop was special… DEI requires curious bravery during difficult and uncomfortable situations, and The Defamation Experience allows us to lean into those uncomfortable situations and build up our bravery.”
Jen Heusel
Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Leadership Development
Half-Day Workshop
Fall Retreat
Since 2020, we’ve partnered with the University of Oregon School of Law, producing events each year designed to develop the next generation of leaders. Oregon Law students have experienced both Defamation and Just Cause in In-Person, Telepresence, and Online formats.
Upgrading the retreat experience to the Half-Day Workshop allowed participants to go deeper in a carefully-guided way as they considered how these issues impact them and others in their future careers. The accompanying workbook left them with valuable insights from the workshop along with the opportunity to continue their own reflections.
