“Our school has made a concerted effort to host programs and speakers that challenge our own notions of diversity and -isms. Showing DEFAMATION to our students has undoubtedly pushed that conversation forward and deeper. That we included our middle school students (grades 6-8) was also purposeful: these issues of identity are not merely relegated to adults. These are issues that impact all of our students’ lives. Though they might not have left the experience with clear answers, they have a new sense of the complexities inherent in these issues.”
