“It is not easy to capture and hold the attention of young men, on a Friday afternoon, seated on hard bleachers in a gym! Defamation accomplished that! Everyone, from the youngest seventh grader to the faculty was riveted during the performance. It provoked a lot of thought and the questions asked by the students from lower school to high school were self-searching, reflective and thought provoking. The issues presented were new for some, but touched an emotional chord for others. The conversation continued long after the cast and crew departed and spilled over into classrooms. Thank you.”
“They really enjoyed being a part of something active and engaging… and not simply sitting back and being told what to think or do.”
“The artistically provocative production untwines the themes of race, class, gender and religion while demanding a response, both emotionally and intellectually, from the viewer. This is an experience that will etch a memory in the minds of the audience members.”
“It was a pleasure to host Defamation at Boston University. Defamation is a fun and entertaining way to introduce students to the intersections of law and identity. I highly recommend Defamation as a tool to engage students in conversations that can typically be difficult in a classroom setting.”
